: : : : I have an HP V100 flash drive with lots of backup files on it. Using Win XP, it shows up as drive F, but soon after I open the folder, it disappears from the list of mounted drives. I am unable to copy any files off of it. Any ideas?

: : : Sounds like the boot sector is damaged. There are some freeware programs that claim to be able to create a new boot sector.

: : Okay. Any suggestions on which one to try?

: Yeah, try Minitools Partition Wizard. That program can create a new boot sector for you.

Minitools looks like a good program. I ran the partition wizard on the flash drive, but no change. Then I ran the option to create a new boot sector. It said it had done it, but nothing changed. The odd part of this problem is that the flash drive shows up under COMPUTER, and it lists all the files in it. But if you try to copy a file out, it says the drive does not exist.
